About Woven Wraps

What is a woven wrap?
A woven wrap is a long piece of fabric used to carry a child in various positions, including hip carry, back and front carry. It's often chosen for it's versatility, as well as support and weight distribution on the wearer. The lengths vary from short to long and choosing the length for you is determined by your body size and the carries you'd like to do with the wrap.

How do I use a woven wrap?
Woven wraps are used to tie on your child in various carries. There are a number of carries that can be done with a woven wrap. The most commonly used carries are front cross carry, hip cross carry, rucksack, and back cross carry. These are just some of the many carries that can be done with a woven wrap. To learn more about using your wrap, visit the "How to Use a Woven Wrap" page.

Are woven wraps hard to use?

You can learn to do a carry in just minutes. And just like everything else, it takes practice to become good at something. Wraps
have the longest learning curve among slings, but it's one that's worth learning. Every experienced wrapper became experienced through practice. We all started out not knowing how to wrap and then later became good at wrapping through practice. I started wrapping in 2005 with my first child. In about two weeks of practicing over a sofa or bed with my daughter, I soon became good at using the wrap. The more I used it, the faster I became at wrapping and the better I got at doing the carry correctly. It was time worth spent and quite satisfying. It is amazing to be able to tie on a piece of wrap in so many ways to carry your child.

Ok, so now I'm ready to try it! How do I know which wrap to get?
I've tried so many different brands of wraps. So, when I started Slings I Love I carefully selected brands of wraps that I knew worked well not just for me, but for many others. All the brands at Slings I Love are top quality, provide uber support, and are comfortable not just on you, but also your child. You can't go wrong with any of them, so browse through them and pick the one that attracts you the most. You'll already be getting a quality woven wrap, but if you love the colors of it, you are sure to wear it with joy.

I found one I really liked, but what size do I need?
What size of woven wrap you need is determined by your body size and the carries you'd like to do. Most people can use a woven wrap that is about 4.6m long and do most carries with it. Those that are more petite, can use a shorter wrap with the same results and sometimes those that are bigger will need a longer wrap. If you need help figuring out which size you need, please contact me.

What if I want a short wrap instead of long?

There are times where a short wrap is much more convenient to use than a long wrap. You can still do a lot of carries with a short wrap, including front, hip and back. Short wraps work great for all stages, including newborn stage. And they are particularly great for toddlers, who often want to be up and down throughout the day. Short wraps make excellent summer wraps, since you can use it to do single layer carries, which will keep you cooler throughout the warm months. A short wrap is one that is about 2.5m to 4m and the length you need is also determined by your size and the carries you'd like to do with it.
